You can tell that the traditional full English breakfast is a true icon of Englishness when you see people making songs and music about it, there has always been something about the tradition which catches the imagination of artists and musicians, who then sing about it.
Musicians naming an album or song after our favorite breakfast dish is a lot more common than you would think, we were surprised to find quite a few.
On the popular SoundCloud website and also on youtube, we managed to find a number of songs which seemed to be inspired by the English breakfast, or used the words 'English breakfast' in their title.
A number of artists have released songs, covering a whole range of different musical genres, so I curated the huge list of songs that I found into a top four and publish them below for your listening pleasure. When you listen to them, none of these tracks sound like they have anything to do with the English breakfast, but we like to think that the artists were thinking about eating one when they were dreaming up this music on an empty stomach.
This first song is the only one on our list which is actually about the English breakfast. It is taken from the English Breakfast movie featuring Dave Courtney, screened in British cinemas in early 2017.
This first song is not actually a song at all, but an English breakfast prank to put you in the mood to listen to the ear blistering bass coming up next, its DJ Kojo from Choice FM (Hertford) making a prank call to the owner of a cafe which serves the English breakfast, its called 'your full English breakfast has my woman in hospital' have a listen.
Next we have a British DJ from Hertford called DJ Vadim laying down some old school hip-hop beats on track number five of his latest album 'Ninja Years'. DJ Vadim was the founder of Jazz Fudge in early 1995, an A&R, producer, DJ, promoter, record collector, radio presenter, occasional painter, writer, in-house producer/DJ.
Finally a Spanish female DJ called Nay Fitz, who lives on the beautiful Spanish island of Majorca, the island has a large English expat community and is a major tourist destination for the English, its common to be served a full English breakfast in Majorcan cafes, I like to think that Nay chose this name because its one of her favorites.
We hope you enjoyed this selection of English breakfast music, do have a listen to it whilst you eat a fry up one day and then let us know if the music made eating your English breakfast more enjoyable than it normally would be. If you come across any new English breakfast music, do let us know!
